As an active member of the community, I am proud to support the Canadian Diabetes Association of Canada and the work they do to improve the lives of the people and families affected by this disease.
The Canadian Diabetes Association is a leading supporter of diabetes research in the country. Since 1975 and the establishment of the Charles H. Best Research Fund, scientists who have dedicated their careers to the fight against diabetes have received more then $95 million in research grants.
Each year the Canadian Diabetes Association of Canada uses the funds collected through donations to offset the costs of the time, human effort and money associated with research. Funds are awarded to individual laboratories or groups of scientists working in a common area and pooling their knowledge. The money that these scientists receive, can be allocated to support the purchasing of laboratory supplies, technicians’ salaries or the salaries of the diabetes scientists, enabling them to devote their time to diabetes research.
